CDex is a utility for extracting audio CD on your hard disk. It
is capable of encoding the tracks to MP3, AAC, OGG, VQF, WAV, WMA and
MP2. You can listen to your favorite music without having to insert the
CD into the drive and create compilations by selecting only the songs
you want to hear. You do not have to edit the tags of your songs since
CDex will automatically connect to the CDDB database to download the CD
information you wish to encode.
CDex is able to convert CD audio into several formats including WAV,
Vorbis, MP3 (using the LAME encoder), VQF, Musepack, APE, and many
others. As of version 1.70b2 FLAC encoding is native, but for version
1.51 FLAC and other codecs can be used by using an external encoder. For
convenience, it supports CD-Text to allow ripped tracks, with reduced
user effort, to have the names of songs, artists and albums. It also
includes cdparanoia for robust CD reading, but does not include
Accuraterip database checking for robust rip verification.
